Believer's Worldview - Curtis Smale

 The Importance of One Letter

I twisted the cap off of a SOBE energy drink, and under the cap I *thought* it said:

I'M WITH YOUR GIRL

What it actually said was:

I'M WITH YOU GIRL

What a difference one little letter "R" can make in a sentence!

Also, a mere two letters can make a total difference in our eternal destination:

I DO BELIEVE IN JESUS.

Or:

I DON'T BELIEVE IN JESUS.

You either do or you don't.

Do you believe in Him?

Check "Y" or "N."

Eternity hangs in the balance.

Sometimes everything hinges on one...

letter.

The Most Offensive Words Ever Written

Okay, here they are. The most offensive words ever written. The words and truths that people HATE. The words people want to ban from the public airwaves, from the workplace and social interactions everywhere. The words I've seen people reject with all the anger and ferocity and evil inside of themselves. Here they are. Please prepare to be offended:

Jesus is GOD.

God is a TRINITY: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Three Persons--One God.

Jesus is the ONLY way to God.

Jesus is the ONLY way to Heaven.

Trusting in JESUS is the only way to live happily forever.

All faiths except Christianity are FALSE.

YOU are a SINNER.

YOU have broken God's Moral Law.

There is a real place called HELL.

If you DON'T trust in Jesus for forgiveness, then you will go to Hell the minute you die to be punished for your sins forever.

"The FEAR of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom."

The Bible is God's inerrant Word. (There are NO errors in it.)

"In the beginning, GOD CREATED the heavens and the earth."

Jesus is coming again to JUDGE the world.

Well, those are the main ones.

We could add other ones like, "According to the Bible, abortion is MURDER."

And "Homosexuality is a sin, a PERVERSION, and an abomination."

And, "There is RIGHT and there is WRONG."

And, "There is such a thing as ABSOLUTE truth."

"You NEED Jesus to forgive your sins and save you from Hell."

Are you offended or are you at peace?

If you have no peace you can trust Jesus right now.

God will help you.

"Are You Sure that You are Going to Heaven?"

Often, people are unsure about whether they are saved and going to Heaven.

But this is something anyone can settle right now.

Jesus said many times that those who believe in Him have everlasting life.

Where does the doubt come from?

Why the uncertainty?

I think I know the answer.

The answer is that they are not putting their trust in Jesus.

They are trusting in themselves and their own "good works."

The other problem is, some other people are trusting in their trust. They are trusting in the quality of their faith.

But the *strength* of your faith doesn't matter at all in order for you to be saved.

What matters is the OBJECT of our faith.

The object of faith for a believer in Jesus is Jesus.

Jesus.

Jesus and all that he did in living perfect life for you.

Jesus: dying for YOUR sins.

Jesus: rising from the dead.

Jesus was the perfect God-man who died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day.

When we believe in JESUS, then we know we are saved.

Do you know that you are saved?

If not, you can put your faith in Him right now.

God will help you, and you will have peace.

God bless you in Jesus.

I Thank God for You: Terri Dole

Today I was over at Woodmen Valley Chapel, my church, to speak with a couple of guys about getting involved in some of the men's ministries at the church, among other things.

The receptionist for one of the men I spoke with is Terri Dole.

I had been to this office twice, and the first time Terri was very nice and courteous, and asked me (with more kindness than you can imagine), if I wanted some tea, coffee, or water.

I said, "Water, please--thank you."

Both times she gave me pure bottled water, very welcomed on hot days.

The first time I saw it, I thought, wow, she must be in a good mood. What a nice smile.

The second time I saw it, a few days later, I knew it was special.

Terri has a smile that is indescribable. I have met only one other person in my life whose smile rivaled hers.

Hers is even better.

I am not kidding, when I say that Terri's smile is like being shined on with sunshine and kindness and sincerity.

I asked her if others had commented on her smile--she said yes.

I couldn't imagine it being otherwise.

Some people are just at the right place in life.

Wow.

Sometimes office people are kind of flat, and rushed and even rude, so when I say I was amazed by Terri, please believe me.

Terri gave the glory to God and said that it was her way of showing the Lord's love.

Indeed.

I thank God for you, Terri. God is working through you. You lifted up my day--twice!

So often the high-profile people like pastors get all the glory and praise and recognition, and they often deserve it as well.

Paul the apostle, however, gave that spotlight of praise and recognition to others in his letters to the churches, and I think we should do the same.

I thank God for you, Terri, and I thank God for your kindness...

and your wonderful smile! :)

-Curtis

You Cannot Prove the Bible Right

You cannot "prove" the Bible right, because anything that would "prove it right," would, by definition, have *more* credibility than the Bible.
The Bible illuminates life.
It is the strongest thing around.
It validates itself and defends itself.
It is the Word of God.
You cannot "prove it right"--it proves itself right, and it proves you either right or wrong, depending on whether you agree with it or not.
Some would say that this is blind devotion to "circular reasoning."
But is it not true that every "self-evident" fact is accepted as "circular reasoning"?
There are many self-evident truths in the Bible, so no one can completely disagree with it and maintain his sanity, unless he wants to make the claim that logic and morality and history are themselves invalid.
In which case, he has just invalidated the only basis upon which to continue arguing. (logic)
